Media Release: Basketball Australia

Basketball Australia has confirmed the Under-17 men’s and women’s squads for their first national camps of the year, as both programs begin preparations for the 2026 FIBA Under-17 World Cup campaigns.

Basketball NSW is proud to recognise Antonio Browne (Bankstown Bruins / Centre of Excellence), Emin Joldic (Norths Bears) and Samson Nathan (Newcastle Falcons), who have been selected in the Under-17 Crocs squad for Camp 1, to be held from 8th–11th March.

The camp provides athletes with their first opportunity in 2026 to train within Basketball Australia’s national performance environment, as preparations continue for the FIBA Under-17 Basketball World Cup, to be staged in Türkiye from 27th June to 5th July. Australia secured qualification at the 2024 FIBA Under-16 Asia Cup in Mongolia.

Basketball NSW also congratulates Tom Garlepp (Norths Bears) on his appointment as Head Coach of the Under-17 Sapphires, ahead of the women’s Camp 1 from 15th–18th March. The program enters camp following a gold medal performance at the FIBA Under-16 Women’s Asia Cup in Malaysia last year, securing qualification for the FIBA Under-17 Women’s Basketball World Cup in Brno, Czech Republic, from 11th–19th July.
