Basketball NSW (BNSW) is the peak governing body for basketball across New South Wales, supporting Associations, clubs, players, coaches and officials statewide.
Following changes to the Board at our 2026 Annual General Meeting, Basketball NSW is inviting expressions of interest for an Appointed Director position, to strengthen the Board’s legal and risk governance capability.

We are seeking a Director who can offer one or both of:

  • Formal legal qualifications and 15+ years’ post-admission experience, ideally in commercial, corporate or sports law; and/or
  • Senior enterprise or compliance risk management experience at Board, C-suite or Head of Risk level.
Prior involvement in basketball, as a player, coach, official, administrator or committed follower of the game, is highly regarded, though not essential for this role.
This is an Appointed Director position under clause 18 of the Basketball NSW Constitution, for a term of up to three years. Appointed Directors are not required to be Members of Basketball NSW or to have prior basketball experience.

This is a genuine opportunity to help shape the strategic and governance direction of one of NSW’s leading sporting organisations.

How to apply
Please complete the BNSW Director – Expression of Interest form, together with your CV and a cover letter addressing the criteria above, and submit to:

[email protected]

Applications close:
5:00pm, Friday 9 October 2026
All expressions of interest will be reviewed by the Basketball NSW Nominations Committee in accordance with the Constitution. Submission of an application does not guarantee appointment.
