The annual John Davidson Country U12 Jamboree has finished for another year, as more than 200 athletes across Country NSW traveled to Tamworth, for the four-day basketball camp between 29th September – 2nd October.

The Jamboree has been developed to provide junior country basketballers with an enjoyable basketball experience that includes more than just direct head to head competition from both a referee and player standpoint.

The Jamboree concept includes social activities, coaching clinics, and games. The focus is not on winning, it is participatory and enjoyment of the game that is important at Jamboree. The games have specifically designed rules that cater to the involvement of all players.

Country High Performance Coach, Curtis Sardi said he was impressed with the overall attendance and high enthusiasm from all the coaching staff and athletes and hopes that next year it can grow even bigger.

“The Country Jamboree is a unique and wonderful opportunity for U12 Country athletes as it’s the first time they play & train alongside athletes & by Coaches from other associations from around Country NSW,” said Sardi.

“I was impressed by the amount of skill and engagement that all participants demonstrated as I took them through a number of training sessions across the camp that will assist the athletes to continue to develop and transition into our BNSW pathways.”

“I would like to also personally thank all the volunteer staff including coaches and managers for their eagerness to engage with the athletes across the camp as we wouldn’t be able to hold such a successful Jamboree without the dedication and time that is needed to make this event a highlight on the NSW Country Basketball calendar,” said Sardi.
