Basketball NSW is pleased to announce a shared partnership with online based basketball organisation, Ba11er Elite, to provide a community minded workout program for children 3-18 years.

Ba11er Elite is the brainchild of Lithgow Basketball Association’s Adam Marjoram who created the online workout sessions to assist in growing the game at a grassroots level while also driving his passion for the sport.

The program is presented over video call via video communications tool ‘Zoom’ which provides Adam the opportunity to demonstrate basketball skills and provide real time feedback to participants in a safe learning environment.

Not only do participants learn new skills to further their development as a player but also provides an opportunity to compete against one another in two weekly challenges which enables them to keep up the mentality of having the motivation to continue practising in their own time. These online challenges are a great way to keep basketball on the forefront of their physical fitness and that they are still a part of the basketball community while team training & competitions are suspended with weekly prizes up for grabs such as Spalding Basketballs and Ba11er Elite merchandise.

Basketball NSW, CEO, Maria Nordstrom expressed her gratitude to Adam Marjoram and his Ba11er Elite workout sessions for continuing to build on reaching basketballers of all ages (Aussie Hoops to U18’s) and thinking about not only the representative players but also causal players that want to have a taste of basketball.

“We are very excited to partner with Adam in this space especially during this time of isolation and uncertainty as there is definitely a need to bridge the gap between online content and the at home motivation to get up and start getting involved,” Nordstrom said.

“We felt that there was a gap in the market to engage not only higher level athletes but also for the casual shooter that may want to work on his or her skills at home in a safe environment. What Adam has created over the past few months has been a testament to his love of coaching and only wanting the best for basketball in NSW.”

Adam currently provides both free and paid workout sessions live on his Facebook page which has seen the number of participants rise and rise in terms of having the whole family be able to join in on some of the online challenges.

“Firstly, I would like to say thank you to Maria and her team for the support with the program as week by week we are continuing to grow in numbers and grown in terms of having athletes from all areas of NSW,” Marjoram added.

“There was quite a number of reasons why I wanted to be apart of the movement to drive the game I love but none more than wanting to assist in the mental and physical health of kids in this current climate by having a safe space for them to connect with each other and grow their skills. Each session is dominated by different aspects to the game from shooting and defense and as there is no need for any hoops or a large space, it is accessible to anyone.”

“We also encourage kids that may feel shy or are just starting to learn the game to join in still even if that means they turn their camera off & send their video privately to me, I can still generate feedback to assist in their development.”
