Dear Basketball Community,

I am writing to inform you all that Debbie Keirs is leaving Basketball NSW effectively as of Tuesday 9th of March 2021.  Debbie has accepted a newly created role in the corporate space in operations, HR and governance.

As the Basketball NSW CEO, I would like to thank Debbie for her significant contribution to our sport. Basketball in NSW has undoubtedly benefited from Debbie’s commitment to basketball at all levels of our game.

During her tenure, Debbie has been an integral member of my senior leadership team. She has been responsible for evolving our competitions, overseeing officials’ education, assisting our associations with creating and sustaining a positive culture, and leading the integrity area of our sport in NSW, which covered member and child protection, tribunals, and match-fixing.

In addition to her employment, Debbie’s skills and technical qualifications have seen her be appointed to numerous championships with FIBA and Basketball Australia and being a games commissioner with NBL and referee assessor with the WNBL.

Debbie will continue to work with Basketball NSW in a part-time capacity and assist in our high-performance programs for officials.

On behalf of Basketball NSW’s board and staff, we THANK YOU Debbie, and we wish you all the very best in your new role and glad that your contributions to our beautiful sport will continue.

Regards
Maria Nordstrom
CEO
