Basketball New South Wales is proud to announce that its annual State Conference and 80th Birthday celebration will be held between the 9th – 11th, 2018 at the Mercure Centro, Port Macquarie.

Basketball NSW is excited to bring the State Conference to the Port Macquarie-Hastings region with the support from the Port Macquarie-Hastings Council in which over 98 basketball associations are invited to attend across Metro and Country New South Wales.

The Basketball NSW State Conference is targeted at affiliated member associations, boards of management, committee members, staff and volunteers. The State Conference will offer association delegates the opportunity to learn valuable skills and resources dedicated to enhancing the growth and development of basketball across New South Wales. All attendees will also have the chance to network with other association members across the state and share valuable knowledge to assist community cohesion.

This year’s State Conference theme is “Make the customer the hero of your story” and will be a constant focus across all proceedings over the weekend-long affair and state initiatives.

The conference schedule will also include various keynote discussions focusing on everything from inclusion opportunities to infrastructure developments along with a large focus on open panel conversations.

In conjunction with the conference, there will be a trade and exhibition show, allowing our members’ ample opportunity to talk and meet with businesses and suppliers who service the sports industry followed by a cocktail party and an 80th birthday celebration dinner.

Basketball New South Wales will also be joined by Australian Sports Broadcaster, Tracey Holmes as the master of ceremonies for the weekend as well as other influential keynote speakers.

Basketball New South Wales, CEO, Maria Nordstrom said she is delighted to bring such a significant event to regional NSW.

“I would like to personally extend my gratitude to the Port Macquarie-Hastings Council for their tremendous support in allowing Basketball NSW to bring this year’s conference to regional NSW and support the growth of basketball across NSW”, said Nordstrom.

Port Macquarie-Hastings Mayor, Peta Pinson also said that she is thrilled that Port Macquarie will be hosting such a prestige event.

“We’re delighted to see Basketball NSW host its annual state conference in Port Macquarie, and are proud to support the development and growth of such a popular sport in our region,” said Port Macquarie-Hastings Mayor, Peta Pinson.

“I encourage all delegates and their families to make the most of their weekend by exploring our beautiful hinterland and beaches, and enjoy some of our fabulous restaurants and cafes during their stay.”
