Camden Valley Basketball Association requires a Referee Development Officer (RDO) to play an integral role in the coaching, development and retention of their referees. The RDO will be expected to work with the competition manager to ensure the needs of the competition are met.

Camden Valley Wildfire is a vibrant, young basketball club which continues to grow with talent. We are always on the lookout for dedicated youngsters to join us and play a part in our bright future. We run junior and senior local basketball competitions throughout the Camden and Liverpool areas as well as competing in the Junior and Senior Waratah League.

Camden Valley Wildfire’s mission is to run high quality local competitions while ensuring our players, coaches and referees, can access representative pathways so that our club can compete at the highest level across NSW, Australia and abroad.

POSITION TITLE: Referee Development Officer

EMPLOYMENT LOCATIONS:  Michael Wenden Centre (Miller) & Mt.Annan Leisure Centre (Mt.Annan)

SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Association Advanced Grade (or higher) accredited official
  • Association Grade (or higher) referee coaching accreditation
  • Strong conflict resolution skills
  • Proven people management and leadership skills
  • Hold a current Working with Children’s Check
  • Level 1 First Aid (preferred)

ROLES / RESPONSIBIITIES

  • Facilitate the holding of beginner referee schools as required.
  • Attend the stadium to develop trainees on court.
  • Attend the stadium each week to develop all referees and improve standards of officiating.
  • Provide regular formal and informal feedback to all referees whilst at the stadium.
  • Encourage equal participation in refereeing regardless of gender or any other attribute.
  • Distrubute information regarding rule changes, interpretations and mechanics of basketball refereeing to appropriate people, including referees, players, coaches and administrators.
  • Identify and motivate current referees for upgrading, and education courses, seminars or lectures conducted by BNSW.
  • Be visible and available during allotted shifts.
  • Be the first point of contact with BNSW in regards to upcoming courses and action days and ensure referee attendance where applicable.
  • Involvement in referee scheduling for local and representative competitions.

AVAILABILITY

Hour per week are negotiable within the following timeframes:

  • Tuesday: 4:30pm – 9.30pm
  • Friday: 5:30pm – 9.30pm
  • Saturday: 10am – 4.00pm
  • Sunday: 10am – 7.30pm
