ABOUT THE POSITION
The 2022 FIBA Women’s World Cup legacy program will provide a lasting imprint for our sport, and its stakeholders, proceeding and post the event. The 2022 FIBA Women’s World Cup will be held in Sydney from Friday 23rd September through to Monday 3rd October 2022.
This newly created role will be responsible for coordinating our Women and Girls Participation Programs, which is a part of our overall participation growth strategy across basketball in NSW.
As the I am A Girl Program Coordinator you will assist in the celebration and growth of female participation across NSW through an expanded I Am A Girl, I Can Do Anything Program, focused on female leadership development in all facets of our game with dedicated annual ‘Come ‘n’ Try periods with female-focused activities that engages the family.
The I Am A Girl, I Can Do Anything Program will also be supported by four (4) ambassadors.
→To assist in building awareness of I Am A Girl, I Can Do Anything programs.
→To assist in facilitating an annual I Am A Girl, I Can Do Anything week at each association, a come ‘n’ try program that aims to converting young girls to either join a learn to play program, play in a domestic basketball competition or attend a future all girls camp/clinic.
→To assist in the delivery of a new program called Dads & Daughters, this program is aimed at 5-12 year olds.
→To assist in the delivery of Aussie Hoops, Sporting Schools and holiday camp, clinics and 3×3 tournaments.
→To assist in the delivery of the I Am A Girl, I Can Do Anything scholarship program.
→To support the Sydney Uni Flames in the delivery on game day for the WNBL I Am A Girl, I Can Do Anything round.

ARE YOU INVOLVED IN OTHER BASKETBALL ACTIVITIES?
If yes that’s great and we encourage our staff to be actively involved in the game in other capacities, such as playing, coaching, being a team manager, refereeing right through to just being a fan.
We get it, and we understand it, as basketball runs through the veins for a lot of our staff members.
The successful applicant can continue to undertake these activities in their own time, but this must be disclosed at the time for applying for the role and must not present conflicts of interest in this role.

However, before accepting any such position(s), you will need to gain approval from Basketball NSW first. If permission to undertake the requested appointment is granted and will require leave, the only form of leave from duties that will be made available to undertake is either annual leave or leave without pay.
Basketball NSW carries out performance appraisals (2 per year) with assessment against objectives as identified in the Community Growth Operational Plan.

→Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
→Experience and understanding of sport/not-for-profit industry.
→Experience in managing other people
→Excellent time management skills ability to work to deadlines.
→Experience in using Google products.
→Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of basketball in NSW.
→Knowledge and experience in working/engagement with women and girls participation programs.
→Knowledge and experience in using the Sports TG platform.
