John Davidson Country Jamboree

The 2018 John Davidson Jamboree will be held in Tamworth 29th September – 2 October 2018.
The NSW Country Basketball Committee are pleased to announce the athletes selected to attend the 2018 John Davidson Under 12 Jamboree. Congratulations!
Players were selected from the recent Under 12 Skills Days held across 12 venues in NSW Country which over 420 athletes attended.
The Jamboree has been developed to provide junior country basketballers with an enjoyable basketball experience that includes more than just direct head to head competition.
The Jamboree concept includes social activities, coaching clinics and games. The focus is not on winning – it is participating and enjoyment of the game that is important at Jamboree.
The games have specifically designed rules that cater for the involvement of all players.
Selected athletes will receive an email shortly from the NSW Country Basketball Committee with information and online registration details for the Jamboree.
Players not selected have been placed on a reserve list.
2018 JOHN DAVIDSON COUNTRY JAMBOREE | COACH/MANAGER APPLICATIONS
 
The NSW Country Basketball Committee is seeking applications for the role of Head Coach and Manager for the 2018 John Davidson Under 12 Jamboree 29th Sept – 2 Oct 2018 in Tamworth.
 
All applicants must be 18 years or older and have a valid Working With Children Check Number. Head Coaches & Managers are provided with accommodation and meals with the teams at Farrar High School and are also responsible to assist with supervision and organisation of their team and other Jamboree participants.
 
Applications have now CLOSED. – Following the selection of coaches and managers, all applicants will receive an email informing them if they are successful with their application.

 

THE CONCEPT OF JAMBOREE

The Jamboree has been developed to provide junior country basketballers with an enjoyable basketball experience that includes more than just direct head to head competition. The Jamboree concept includes social activities, coaching clinics, and games.  The focus is not on winning it is participatory and enjoyment of the game that is important at Jamboree. The games have specifically designed rules that cater to the involvement of all players.

Players go into camp and are accommodated at Farrar High School Tamworth, and while parents are invited to come and watch the Jamboree games, players are required to stay overnight with their teammates, coaches, and managers.

The cost of the Jamboree is approx.. $410. This includes:

  • 6 games of basketball
  • 3 training sessions
  • 3 nights accommodation
  • All meals
  • Playing singlet, playing shorts and Jamboree t-shirt
  • Transport during the Jamboree (players must arrange their own travel arrangements to and from the Jamboree)
  • Jamboree Photo
  • Social Activities
