Jennifer Dean (Chair)

Jenny is an actuary, being a partner in the global professional services company Aon, and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.  At Aon, Jenny is responsible for overseeing the operations and growth strategy including governance, risk, liability management, business strategy, resource management and regulatory compliance for the smartMonday suite of products.

Jenny has led the BNSW Board in recent years in governance and finance.  She is a passionate basketballer and has been involved in coaching for many years.

Jenny has been the Chair of BNSW from 1st of January 2019 and Chairs the Board Governance Committee.

Paul Beale

Paul has been involved in basketball for over five decades, notably being a three-time NSW Referee of the Year and officiating at numerous Australian junior Championships and several international assignments including World University Games in Japan and Yugoslavia and the FIBA Oceania Championships.  Paul has officiated in the NBL with 187 games in 12 years.  A former Chair of the Board and was awarded his life membership of BNSW in 2007.

Paul is the Chair of the Country Committee, member of the Finance and Audit Committee and Director of IFMG.

Lauretta Claus

Lauretta is a Principal at a High School in Western Sydney.  She played in the WNBL in the 1980’s and represented NSW from 1979-1982.

Lauretta has been involved in basketball as a referee, coach and statistician over many years.  She is currently the Chairperson for the Australian Basketball Statistics Committee and has coordinated the statistics for Women’s World Basketball Championships, World Cup, Wheelchair Basketball Championships and the Sydney Olympics and Paralympics.

Lauretta is a Director of Sports Stadium Management, sits on the Metropolitan Advisory and Female Participation Steering Committees. 

David Brettell

David has significant leadership and strategic management experience in corporate, not-for-profit, charities and sports sector.

He was key in managing volunteer programs for the Sydney 2000 Olympics and Paralympic Games and the United Nations Development Program. David was an advisor to the volunteer program for the Beijing Olympic Games Organising Committee, Rugby World Cup 2011 (NZ) and the Maccabiah Games 2005 (Israel).

David has been on the board member since June 2016 and has previously been on the Board from 1987 to 1997, and again from 1998 to 2005. He is also currently a director of Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, a charity improving the lives of cancer patients.

David is a Director of Sports Stadium Management and Chair of the Hall of Fame Committee.

Gina McClement

Gina is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.  Gina’s executive career spanned twenty plus years working with some of the world’s most recognisable brands including American Express, HSBC, Qantas and global sports marketing giant IMG.  Gina has extensive leadership, marketing, brand and digital expertise as well as a deep background in sport, sponsorship and commercial partnerships. 

Gina is a member of the Nominations and Governance Committees.

Darryl Connoley

Darryl has worked in Finance, Markets and Treasury for several years and has performed many senior roles gaining a wide range of experience in stakeholder management and transformational business solutions, and with expertise in risk management, culture, internal audit, compliance and regulatory risk.

Darryl is the Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee.

Tom Moore

Tom has spent his life deeply embedded in basketball and was awarded Life Membership of BNSW in 1995.  Most recently he served as the BNSW Company Secretary from 2016-2018, as part of his 38-year tenure with Basketball NSW.

Tom’s career has followed the traditional path on NSW basketball, firstly as a valued volunteer at the association level in coaching and player development, leading to his progression onto an association board.  Throughput 1980’s Tom was a member of BNSW’s executive Committee and fulfilled an important role in managing three Sydney Basketball Councils.

As a full-time administrator, over the past 38 years Tom has undertaken various BNSW staff roles in a number of different functional areas.

Tom was elected to the board of BNSW in 2020.
