Talented Athlete Program

The Talented Athlete Program (TAP) is a specialist junior talent development program conducted by Basketball NSW in conjunction with the NSW Office of Sport.

What is the Talented Athlete Program?

Introducing the Talented Athlete Program (TAP), a dedicated initiative in junior basketball development for over 30 years. TAP has contributed to the growth of notable players such as Lauren Jackson, Xavier Cooks, Josh Green, and Lauren Nicholson, and is an essential part of the Basketball New South Wales (BNSW) High Performance Pathway. Our goal is to help promising young athletes build a strong foundation as they pursue their basketball aspirations.  The program takes a well-rounded approach, addressing skill development, physical conditioning, mental fortitude, and character enhancement. This ensures that our athletes are equipped to handle the challenges they may encounter both on and off the court. Experience the supportive environment at TAP and take the first step toward realising your basketball potential.

What will your child do at TAP camp?

At TAP camp young athletes are given the opportunity to excel with the Basketball NSW High-Performance Camp. Designed and led by Basketball NSW High-Performance Coaches, this camp provides a comprehensive and nurturing environment for your child to develop essential basketball skills and off-court abilities. Our program emphasizes the ‘Super 6’: Passing, Shooting, Ball Handling, 1v1 Defence, Footwork, and Decision Making.
Recognising the importance of a holistic approach, we also invite expert guest presenters to share valuable insights on off-court skills, such as recovery techniques, mindfulness, planning, and establishing high-performance routines.
