We were thrilled that the collective success of the 2021-2023 NSW Legacy Program and following the success of the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2022 has enabled us to continue to deliver our Legacy Programs in 2024 and 2025, thanks to the support of the NSW Government.

I AM A GIRL

I CAN DO ANYTHING

Basketball NSW is thrilled to unveil a series of initiatives set to redefine the landscape of women’s basketball with the  “I AM A GIRL” Program transitioning into a new look and feel program from 2024.

The program will also be refreshed with a new logo and program outline with now two options for young female players to participate in.

Come & Try is targeted at newcomers to the game, and will include a two-hour basketball skills session. Participants at the Come ‘n’ Try receive a I AM A GIRL t-shirt valued at $39, a size 1 promo ball and coaching from our qualified coaches – all for just $35.

For ages 5-12 .

Come & Play is targeted at girls who have previously played or attended a Come & Try session that builds upon their basketball foundation. These three-hour sessions offer skills, drills and gameplay. Participants will also receive a I AM A GIRL reversible singlet valued at $55, a size 1 promo ball and coaching from our qualified coaches – all for just $55.

For ages 10-18.

OUR MOB OUR GAME

Basketball NSW is thrilled to unveil a series of initiatives set to redefine the basketball landscape with the BNSW Program transitioning into a new look and feel program now named ‘Our Mob Our Game’.

In a significant development for 2024, the newly rebranded program ‘Our Mob Our Game’ will transition into two options for all people, all abilities to participate in with ‘Come N Try’ and ‘Come N Play’.

Come ‘n’ Try is targeted at newcomers to the game, and will include a two-hour basketball skills session. Participants at the Come ‘n’ Try receive a Our Mob Our Game t-shirt valued at $39, and coaching from our qualified coaches – all for just $35.

For ages 5-12.

Come ‘n’ Play is targeted at boys & girls who have previously played or attended a Come ‘n’ Try session that builds upon their basketball foundation. These registered participants will also receive a Our Mob Our Game reversible singlet valued at $55 and coaching from our qualified coaches – all for just $55.

CaLD

Our basketball community in NSW exceeds well over 314,000 people of 155 nationalities.

We will partner with CaLD groups and replicate our I AM A GIRL and OUR MOB OUR GAME program session plans whilst incorporating specific cultural programs.

OTHER PROGRAMS

  • I AM A GIRL Capacity Building program – an opportunity for up to 100 women to advance their technical skills in our game as either a coach, referee, statistician or scoretable official.
  • I AM A GIRL Family – a new program inviting young girls new to basketball to join an empowerment session with a family member. The goal is to inspire girls to take up basketball by also watching elite or semi-elite women players in action.
  • I AM A GIRL Heroes – a new program where we acknowledge and recognise former NSW athletes who have excelled in basketball and represented Australia at either a World Championship or Olympic Games, the events will be known as U13 and U15 Challenges.
  • ICaLD Capacity Building Program – To deliver mentoring/networking opportunities for up to 100 coaches or technical officials to further their education within the sport and pursue their basketball dreams.
  • ICaLD Schools Program – These programs will be partnered with an appropriate organisation with like-minded objectives, e.g. Clontarf, Sporting Schools, to deliver programs during school hours.
