Co-funded with the NSW Government and Basketball NSW, the NSW Legacy Program is being run as a pilot program for the wider legacy program being rolled out nation-wide, and internationally.

Delivered by Basketball NSW across the next three years, the Strategic Legacy Program in New South Wales will include sport development, female-specific participation programs, female leadership programs, indigenous participation programs as well as better access to play and participate in basketball for residents in regional and remote areas of New South Wales.

The Legacy Program is supporting the New South Wales Governments Strategic Focus on women and girls in sport through the ‘Her Sport Her Way’ program and basketballs goal to move towards gender equality.

NSW Legacy Program Pillars:

  • Female Leadership Scholarship Program
  • Education and participation programs delivered in partnership with Indigenous Basketball Australia and Savannah Pride.
  • Delivery of a basketball-specific ‘Daughters and Dads’ program.
  • Delivery of culturally specific ‘Daughters and Dads’ program delivered in partnership with Savannah Pride.
  • School holidays programs delivered state-wide
  • 3×3 Basketball Tournaments delivered state-wide

Stunning logo unveiled for FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2022!

The logo for the FIBA Women’s World Cup 2022 was inspired by 14-year-old Aboriginal basketballer and artist Amarlie ‘Marlii’ Briscoe and represents Australia’s heritage and spirit of unity. Briscoe created a stunning piece of Indigenous artwork titled ‘My Story’, representing everything she loves in her life, including her biggest loves – ‘art’, ‘basketball’, ‘culture’ and ‘country’. These symbols of love from her artwork have been represented within the traditional basketball-shaped logo, which also features the newly launched FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup trophy. ‘FIBAWWC
