What is CDP & MDP?

The NSW Country Development Program & Metro Development Program Day Camps

The Leeanne Palmer NSW Country Development Program and Metro Development Program Day Camps offer athletes from both Country and Metropolitan associations across NSW the opportunity to further develop their basketball skills in a fun and supportive training environment.

Open to players of all experience levels, the camps focus on building strong individual foundations through 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3 gameplay, alongside targeted skill development in Super 6 Skills – Shooting, Finishing, Passing, Pivoting, Decision making and 1v1 Defence Sessions also introduce athletes to the Basketball NSW 5v5 Style of Play, helping players develop a better understanding of the game.

These camps form an important part of the Basketball NSW Community and Performance Pathway, providing additional opportunities for athletes to improve their skills and continue their development while playing for their local or representative teams throughout the season.

WHAT IS THE BENEFIT OF ATTENDING A CDP OR MDP?

CDP and MDP sit at the early stage of the Basketball NSW athlete pathway and act as key points for talent identification. These programs are designed to support new and aspiring athletes as they grow through their age groups. The focus is on building strong fundamental skills, learning team concepts, and helping athletes understand how to apply these skills in real game situations.

Each CDP and MDP day gives athletes a chance to show what they can do in a competitive but welcoming setting. These sessions allow coaches to identify potential talent while giving athletes a place to challenge themselves, learn, and continue their development with confidence.
