Last weekend, Basketball NSW with Wheelchair Sports NSW/ACT held Round 1 of the 2023 GTK Waratah Wheelchair League Powered by Spalding at Niagara Park!
The day was a roaring success, with the tremendous calibre of talent that are partaking in the 2023 season, with spectators aplenty throughout the whole day. The GTK experts were on hand to assist with any technical wheelchair help and gave players their welcome pack which many were very excited about! Also in attendance was a panel of qualified classifiers, who assessed and classified athletes on the day.
The energy was contagious – and with such a diverse mix of athletes, the excitement was palpable!
“Thank you to everyone who came down to Niagara Park for Round 1 of the GTK Waratah Wheelchair League Powered by Spalding! It was so great to be around such excited and skilled athletes and officials. It was lots of fun and we can’t wait for Round 2,” said Chanelle Bailey, BNSW’s Senior Manager of Competitions & Leagues.

Round 2 will be held on Saturday, the 8th of July at Minto Indoor Sports Centre, with the first game scheduled to tip-off at 9:00am. The buzz for Round 2 is building – we can’t wait!
