2023 SPALDING WARATAH JUNIOR LEAGUE VENUES ANNOUNCEMENT

Basketball NSW is pleased to announce the venues that will be used in the upcoming 2023 Spalding Waratah Junior Leagues.

Junior Premier League

The upcoming season will see BNSW partner with Central Coast Basketball through the use of the Coastal Classic for our Country Pre-Season and will also see finals/state champs being played in metropolitan Sydney for the first time in a number of years. 

  • Pre-Season (Country), 4th & 5th February at Breakers Indoor Sports Stadium
  • Round 1, 18th & 19th March at Billbergia Indoor Sports Centre & Maitland Federation Centre
  • Round 2, 29th & 30th April at Illawarra Sports Stadium & The Snakepit Stadium
  • Round 3, 27th & 28th May at Belconnen Basketball Stadium & Tuggeranong Indoor Sports Stadium
  • Round 4, 15th & 16th July at Breakers Indoor Sports Stadium & Hills Basketball Stadium
  • Finals, 28th – 30th July at Penrith Valley Regional Sports Centre, Sutherland Basketball Stadium & Menai Indoor Sports Centre

Metro Junior League

This season will see a number of new venues being used for Central Venue rounds throughout the season.

  • Pre-Season Week 1, 11th & 12th February at Hawkesbury Indoor Stadium, Hills Basketball Stadium and Penrith Valley Regional Sports Centre
  • Pre-Season Week 2, 18th & 19th February at Hawkesbury Indoor Stadium, Hills Basketball Stadium and Penrith Valley Regional Sports Centre
  • Pre-Season Week 3, 25th & 26th February at Bankstown Basketball Stadium, Comets Stadium, Perry Park Recreation Centre & Sutherland Basketball Stadium
  • Pre-Season Week 4, 4th & 5th March at Bankstown Basketball Stadium & Billbergia Indoor Sports Centre
  • Semi Finals, 16th July at Barker College & Hawkesbury Indoor Stadium
  • Grand Finals, 23rd July at Bankstown Basketball Stadium & Sutherland Basketball Stadium 

North-Eastern Junior League

Newly opened Wiigulga Sports Complex will be used for the first time this season as renovations get underway at Sportz Central in Coffs Harbour. Finals will also be back in Tamworth this season!

  • Round 1.1, 4th & 5th March at Port Macquarie Indoor Stadium
  • Round 1.2, 11th & 12th March at Tamworth Sports Dome
  • Round 2.1, 25th & 26th March at Niagara Park Stadium & Port Macquarie Indoor Stadium
  • Round 2.2, 1st & 2nd April at Newcastle Basketball Stadium, Sportz Central Coffs Harbour & Wiggulga Sports Complex
  • Round 3.1, 6th & 7th May at Tamworth Sports Dome
  • Round 3.2, 13th & 14th May at Port Macquarie Indoor Stadium
  • Round 4.1, 17th & 18th June at Maitland Federation Centre & Ballina Indoor Sports Centre
  • Round 4.2, 24th & 25th June at Breakers Indoor Sports Stadium, Sportz Central Coffs Harbour & Wiigulga Sports Complex
  • Finals, 22nd & 23rd July at Tamworth Sports Dome

Southern Junior League

BNSW are excited to be partnering with Wagga Wagga Council and Wagga Wagga Basketball to bring SJL finals to the area for the first time. 

  • Round 1, 11th & 12th March at Belconnen Basketball Stadium, Tuggeranong Indoor Sports Centre and The Centre of Excellence (AIS)
  • Round 2, 1st & 2nd April at Lauren Jackson Sports Centre & Wodonga Sports & Leisure Centre
  • Round 3, 6th & 7th May at Illawarra Sports Stadium, Shoalhaven Indoor Sports Centre & The Snakepit Stadium
  • Finals, 20th & 21st May at Bolton Park Stadium, PCYC Stadium & Equex Multi-Purpose Stadium

Western Junior League

With the use of Griffith’s 5 new courts, WJL will for the first time in a long time, be able to house all finals in one venue. It also allows for a majority of round 1 games to be played together instead of being split among 4 venues. 

  • Round 1, 25th & 26th February at Leeton Indoor Stadium & West End Stadium Griffith
  • Round 2, 11th & 12th March at Bathurst Indoor Sports Stadium, Lithgow Basketball Stadium & West End Stadium Griffith
  • Round 3, 1st & 2nd April at Bathurst Indoor Sports Stadium, Charles Sturt University & Orange PCYC Sir Neville Howse Stadium
  • Finals, 6th & 7th May at West End Stadium Griffith

State Cup

State Cup has primarily been held in Metro venues over a number of years now. In 2023 we will see our State Cup move to the Central Coast as they showcase the best of our regional and metro Division 1 teams.

  • 5th & 6th August at Breakers Indoor Sports Stadium & Niagara Park Stadium
