The recent State Performance Program (SPP) Graduation Camp for the class of 2023, was held by Basketball NSW earlier in the month. Held at the Billbergia Indoors Sports Centre on the 12th and 13th of August, the event saw more than 150 talented SPP athletes from 28 associations and 54 dedicated coaches come together for an exhilarating weekend.

The camp was jam-packed with on-court coaching sessions, where athletes honed their skills and strategy, and off-court classroom sessions, where they absorbed valuable knowledge to enhance their basketball IQ. The highlight of the event was undoubtedly the graduation ceremony, followed by a friendly game that showcased the athletes’ incredible talent.

What made the event even more special was the presence of esteemed guest coaches who graciously gave up their time to conduct specific sessions for these remarkable athletes. A big shoutout and heartfelt thanks to

  • Fleur McIntyre: Sydney Kings Assistant Coach and 2023 U18 Metro Girls Assistant Coach
  • Robbie McKinlay and Ash Arnott: Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence Head Coach  and Assistant Coach
  • Shaun Roger: Illawarra Hawks Assistant Coach
  • Karen Haddad: Performance Psychologist

Basketball NSW General Manager of Coaching and Development Brett Coxsedge was delighted with the success of the Grad Camp.

“Basketball NSW would also like to extend our warm congratulations to the graduating athletes who have diligently worked their way through the Basketball NSW High Performance Program structure over the past few years. Their dedication and commitment have truly paid off and we wish them all the best on the next step of their basketball journeys” Coxsedge said.

Coxsedge also praised the numerous volunteer coaches and the Country/Metro associations for their efforts and support of the program.

“Programs like the SPP aren’t possible without the dedication and invaluable support of numerous people and the associations. A sincere thank you to all for helping shape the future stars of basketball in NSW throughout the past 12 months.”

Stay tuned for more exciting updates and achievements from Basketball NSW as we continue to nurture and promote the growth of basketball in our state!
