Basketball NSW is thrilled to announce the continuation of its commitment to honouring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across Australia with the Indigenous Round in the Spalding Waratah Junior and Senior Leagues for the third consecutive year.

With a firm dedication to collaborating with Indigenous communities, Basketball NSW is committed to assisting in addressing the challenges hindering basketball participation, ensuring that all individuals can engage and relish in the sport. First Nations people are a priority community group in our 2023-2025 Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Plan. The introduction of this round serves as a poignant celebration of the rich history, vibrant culture, and remarkable achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, particularly within the basketball landscape of NSW and beyond.

Through this initiative, Basketball NSW seeks to cultivate an environment of mutual respect among players at every level, fostering inclusivity and unity within the basketball community.

By championing the Indigenous Round, Basketball NSW hopes to inspire understanding and appreciation among all participants, reinforcing the importance of honouring First Nations Peoples and their cultural heritage within the sport.
