In 2023 Basketball NSW will be facilitating a brand new competition that will feature interested schools from across the state competing in the inaugural Schools Tournament for both primary and secondary.
Nominations are now open for all schools to register their interest in participating.
Nominations close on the following dates
- Opens 28th April 2023
- Primary School 15th May 2023
- Under 15s 11th August 2023
There will be two separate competitions for the following age groups (boys and girls)
- Primary School – Years 5 & 6
- Secondary Schools – Under 15s & Opens
All events will be held at Penrith Valley Regional Sports Centre for the first year of the tournament with the plan to expand into regional areas in 2024.
The tournament will be run across the following dates:
- 16th & 17th May 2023, Opens
- 30th & 31st May 2023, Primary School
- 29th & 30th August 2023, Under 15s
Once nominations are received, Basketball NSW will be able to confirm if both dates are needed and the exact timings for each team on the day.
Note first games will be played at 8:30 am at the earliest and last game conclude at 3:30 pm at the latest.

BNSW imposes a fee per team for entry into the tournament. The fee of $140.00 per team includes referee costs, court hire and administration costs. Note teams are not required to bring any fees with them on the day. BNSW will invoice all participating schools. Teams who withdraw after the draw is released will forfeit their nomination fee.
Referees will be supplied by BNSW. Any school/staff member interested in a referee course prior to the tournament can advise of their interest in the nomination form.
