The FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup is the world’s largest international women’s basketball competition and one of the most prestigious titles in the sport. This major event will feature the world’s best players representing 12 basketball powerhouse nations from across FIBA’s regions – Asia & Oceania, Americas, Africa and Europe.

ABOUT FIBA
The Federation International Basketball (FIBA) is the association of National Federations which governs the sport of basketball worldwide. Following a competitive bid, Basketball Australia and the NSW Government were awarded the rights to host the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2022 at Sydney Olympic Park from 22 September to 1 October 2022.

FIBA WOMENS BASKETBALL WORLD CUP 2022 LOCAL ORGANSING COMMITTEE
Basketball Australia partnered with NSW Government through its major events and tourism agency, Destination NSW and the Office of Sport to win the rights in March 2020 to host the Women’s Basketball World Cup as part of the NSW Government’s 10 World Cups in 10 years initiative. Basketball Australia established a Local Organising Committee, as a wholly owned subsidiary, to deliver this prestigious event. This World Cup will be one of the first major international events to be held in Australia in 2022 (22 September to 1 October 2022) and comes at an unprecedented time for our country, following devastating bushfires and COVID-19 pandemic. This global sporting event will contribute to Australia’s long-term recovery due to the economic and social benefits this event will deliver, along with continuing the powerful message of gender equality and focus on women’s sport.

We want this event to reimagine and reinvigorate Basketball, and specifically Women’s Basketball, in Australia and the Region. We want to create an atmosphere that is cool, edgy and funky with activations, communications and promotions in the lead up and during to the event that achieves our vision of igniting the passion for women’s basketball globally.

REPORTS TO
General Manager Commercial

JOB GOAL: TICKETING MANAGER
Reporting to the General Manager – Commercial, the primary role of the Ticketing Manager will be to lead and execute the ticketing activities for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2022 Local Organising Committee in line with the overall Commercial Strategy, Ticketing Strategy and LOC Strategic Plan.

The Ticketing Manager is an exceptionally organised ticketing professional with demonstrated experience in a sports and entertainment ticketing environment for major events. The successful applicant will have a talent for managing an end to end ticketing programme, working with stakeholders at all levels, problem solving and a strong commitment to providing superior customer service. The Ticketing Manager must work well under pressure and be committed to working in a team environment.

The role requires an individual to have a strong understanding of and experience in ticketing analysis, modelling, package pricing, ticketing system preparation, building a digital customer journey, event builds to event time operational delivery and settlements. A proven ability to work alongside a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders including rights holders, organising committees, promoters and the venue ticketing personnel.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Ticketing & Accreditation Manager will be expected to:
• Responsible for finalising the ticketing plan with the General Manager Commercial and Ticketing Strategy Consultant
• Responsible for managing and implementation of the ticketing plan with the ticketing partner
• Responsible for creating and implementing the pre-sale ticketing plan in conjunction with the LOC Marketing team
• Responsible for implementing the ticketing build with the venues and ticketing partner
• Working with the marketing team to implement the ticketing on sale strategy
• Working with the General Manager Commercial forecasting the ticket sales for the on sale and events
• Responsible for the allocation, implementation & distribution of the VIP ticketing allocations
• Working with the General Manager Commercial, responsible for managing the on-sale process and reacting to sales patterns adjusting accordingly
• Managing the LOC ticketing holds, requests and inventory management
• Primary relationship manager for ticketing with the ticketing partner and venues
• Oversee the management of the ticketing contract, including regular review of KPI’s and managing performance issues with the venue and ticketing partner
• Work closely with the ticketing supplier in regard to the event build, operations and systems, briefing and information exchange, and reporting and reconciliations
• Managing the ticketing legal terms, policies, procedures and systems in collaboration with the venues and the ticketing provider’s IT departments, as well as maintain stadium-seating capacity
• Attend team and event planning/debrief meetings to represent ticketing operations
• Supply General Manager Commercial – and senior executive staff with relevant ticketing information, sales patterns and reports as required
• Create relevant event ticketing policies/request procedures
• Provide timely analysis of sales, trends, average ticket prices, revenue targets and other sales reports as required
• Produce regular statistical data on ticket sales, pre and post event
• Develop and implement a master plan for the ticketing plan inside the Event Master Plan
• Work closely with the General Manager Commercial GM and General Manager Finance & Business Operations regarding financial reconciliations and settlement
• Responsible for (with ticketing partner) the delivery of the ticketing programme during the event
• Work with venues and event operations on the delivery of all ticketing operations
• Provide post event reporting to deliver to contractual requirements for partners and stakeholders

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

SELECTION CRITERIA
In addition to demonstrating relevant experiences across the core functional areas of responsibility identified in this Position Overview, candidates applying for the Ticketing Manager role will require a range of personal and professional skills, including:

Essential
• 7 years’ experience in a managerial ticketing role is essential for success in this position
• Previous experience within a major event or premium sporting organisation which offered a wide range of ticket and package options
• Advanced knowledge of computerised ticket sales – preferably Ticketek’s Aspect system
• Previous management experience in planning for and delivering ticketing sales and operations in the Australian sports marketplace with essential experience with box office procedures
• Knowledge of event planning and coordination, equipment, and practices typical to the sport and entertainment industry
• Experience working in an organisation that offers membership purchase platforms, as well as a large volume of single tickets
• Experience in the preparation and writing of ticketing plans and associated ticketing reports • A demonstrated and strong commitment to exceptional customer service
• Proven ability to work in a high-pressured environment, with competing priorities, stakeholders and deadlines • A clear and demonstrated capability to drive continuous improvement initiatives
• Exceptional attention to detail, time management, planning and scheduling skills
• High level of all round communication and interpersonal skills
• Display sound decision making skills to solve problems and conflicts effectively whilst remaining calm under pressure
• Proficient with Microsoft Office with emphasis on Word and Excel
• Strong project management disciplines inclusive of the ability to prioritise at peak times, multitask and meet strict deadlines
Desirable
• Knowledge of the sport of basketball

LOCATION
FWBWC22 LOC office will be located at Sydney Olympic Park. Flexible working arrangements will be discussed.

HOURS OF WORK
Due to the nature of the position, weekend work and extended hours may be required from time to time.

REMUNERATION
The remuneration package is negotiable depending upon skill level and experiences.

TIMELINES
Applications close 5pm AEST Friday, 20 August 2021. Interviews and appointment will occur in August 2021 and it is expected that the Ticketing Manager will commence in September 2021.

TERM
The successful candidate will be employed under a full-time contract of service 3 days per week for the first month then 5 days per week to 7 October 2022. This is subject to funding and may be extended. In addition, a three-month probationary period will be included in the contract.
