Basketball NSW is excited to welcome two new basketball organisations to its network of affiliated member associations: the Casino Kings Basketball Association and the Shellharbour City Basketball Club (Bulls).

The Casino Kings, based in the Northern Rivers town of Casino, will operate out of the Casino Indoor Sports Stadium. Meanwhile, the Shellharbour Bulls, located in Shellharbour City on the stunning South Coast of NSW, will call the Shellharbour City Stadium their home.

Casino Kings, Chair, Cindy Richards said the association is excited to join the Basketball NSW family and provide basketball to the local community.

“We are super excited and well on our way to cementing a solid basketball presence within our basketball loving community in Casino. The Casino Kings Association will create opportunities for our local country kids to play at a representative level and promote our town within the world of NSW Basketball,” said Richards.

“We believe that all kids should have the chance to play, push themselves and excel in their chosen sport, especially when there is such a strong following of Basketball already present within our community. We are looking forward to the days where our stadium is packed full of kids playing and enjoying the sport of basketball under the Casino Kings Association. Plus we would also like to extend a huge congratulations and welcome to the Shellharbour Bulls. Wishing you all the best as your association takes on the basketball world.”

Shellharbour Bulls, Chairman, Adam Woodward added his enthusiasm to bring basketball to the families of Shellharbour.

“We are thrilled to give the kids of Shellharbour a basketball association of their own! The experience of representative basketball and opportunities to explore the exciting world of basketball will not be lost on these kids. We have a hard-working committee dedicated to making basketball accessible to everyone in our community, whilst keeping that “family feel” vibe, we are known for,” said Woodward.

“I would like to extend our congratulations to the Casino Kings, from everyone at the Shellharbour Bulls!”

Maria Nordstrom, CEO of Basketball NSW, expressed her delight at the addition of these two associations. She emphasised that their inclusion not only strengthens our community but also aligns to make basketball more accessible to residents of NSW.

“Both organisations will offer learn-to-play programs (Ford Aussie Hoops) and domestic competitions. Basketball NSW will support them in developing coach and referee programs to prepare for potential entry into representative programs in the near future,” included Nordstrom.

“Collaborating towards shared goals, enhanced by collective strengths, both associations are poised to explore new territories of growth, innovation, and sustainability alongside Basketball NSW.”

Basketball NSW wishes both associations all the best of luck.
