The following is a summary of a mediation process that two players from a BNSW league undertook.

In a Junior Metro League game during the 2015 season, there was an incident during which words were said by one player to another player which were racially offensive to the second player. A complaint was made to BNSW by the second player.
A mediation was organised by BNSW and attended by the two players, support persons for each of them, a representative of BNSW and a accredited mediator. At the mediation the players agreed to resolve the dispute by the first player apologising for what he said, the second player accepting his apology than the players shacking hands, the first player agreeing to assist training indigenous children and the second player agree to go too.

The first player had already missed one game because of the incident. Both players felt the mediation allowed them to express their feelings about the incident, to understand how the other player felt and to learn something, including the power of words to harm others
