Basketball NSW is seeking expressions of interest for athletes to trial for the U20 Men’s and Women’s State teams. We are looking at the possibility of nominating two teams (20 players) in both the men’s and women’s competitions for 2021.

Selection of two teams will be dependent on the quality and number of trialists (BNSW reserves the right to send less than two teams).

Basketball NSW is pleased to announce that Ashley Henrisson (Bankstown) and Tom Garlepp (Norths) will return in 2021 to head up the men’s and women’s program respectively as Head Coaches. Both have extensive coaching experience in the NSW State team and development system.

If numbers and quality warrant a second team, those head coaches will be appointed accordingly.

In regards to the details of the Tournament, Basketball Australia are currently working through the planning process for the event, which includes confirmation of the dates and venue (9-14 February was the original date of the Tournament to be held at the AIS in Canberra, ACT). A further announcement from Basketball Australia will be made mid-October.

A date for the trials is yet to be determined due to the current recommendations put in place by the NSW Government. Basketball NSW is working with the two Head Coaches to determine a suitable trial date and preparation schedule which will take in to account the HSC and other possible commitments that the athletes may have.
