Basketball NSW is the governing body for basketball in New South Wales, Australia. Established in 1938, Basketball NSW has a rich history of promoting and developing the game of basketball throughout the state. As an affiliated member of Basketball Australia (BA), the national governing body, Basketball NSW is committed to growing and advancing the sport at all levels.

The role of the technical officials is to ensure the game is played in a fair and safe manner and within the rules. Refereeing is the most physical active as they are on-court and “call” the game. Other technical officials perform various roles on the scoretable and statistics and further information about each role is given below.

Each year Basketball NSW enters teams into Basketball Australia's National Championships in the U20's, U18', U16', Wheelchair Basketball and for Players with an Intellectual Impairment.

Come along to our Active Fest basketball events and experience something new, get physically active, and have some fun in a community environment.
The Active Fest event series are funded by the NSW Government and provides financial support, assistance, and participation opportunities for communities hardest hit by the COVID lockdowns.
Basketball NSW has worked with the NSW Office of Sport to create a number of 8-week basketball programs under the Active Fest funding in 2023.
Come join us at Active Fest for fun, fitness and laughter. Bring along your friends, experience basketball and a range of skill activities, and most of all – have fun!
Free 8-week basketball skills and drills program for all abilities is heading to Lismore this June. Learn basketball in a supportive and inclusive environment mixed with games and plenty of fun. All ages, skill levels & abilities are welcome to join.

Free 8-week program focusing on the skills and fundamentals of 3×3 basketball is coming to Kempsey & Albury in June. This program is for all skill levels and abilities and will feature plenty of music, prizes, food and fun. This program is open to boys & girls aged 12-16 years and will be hosted by Kempsey Basketball Association & Albury Basketball Association.
