Coach Education

The role of a basketball coach is not simply to improve the skills of each player and their understanding of the various tactics of the game. A coach’s role extends to developing each athlete as a person. Particularly when coaching young athletes, a coach should seek to instil a love of the game in each player and a desire to play and learn about the game.

Renewing your accreditation

All coaches, regardless of what level or where you coach (Association, Organisation and Schools) are required to ensure that their coaching accreditation is kept up to date.

After your accreditation has expired, and as long as your contact information has been kept up to date with us, you will receive an email with an option to renew your coaching accreditation online. Please note that you will need to pay $30.00.

To ensure your details are up to date, you can visit your online profile by going to member.basketball.net.au and updating your details. If you can’t locate your profile online or you believe you should have received an email please email [email protected].

All coaches looking to renew their accreditation are required to meet the following criteria.

1) Have applied for a Working with Children check

2) Have completed and been issued with a valid PBTR ‘Children Protection’ course and be issued with a certificate

3) Have held a valid (over 2 years) and current Coach accreditation – either Club (formerly Level 1), Association (level 2) or higher accreditation.

For coaches whose accreditation lapsed more than 2 years ago or your name doesn’t appear in our database, please email [email protected] with evidence of the last Club Coach course you attended and who presented it? – this will assist us with checking old databases.  You will be required to attend an upcoming Club Coach course (formerly Level 1’s), to see our list of courses available click HERE

Upon receipt of payment, Basketball NSW will review all the information submitted and vill verify your Working With Children Check.

Successful renewals will be advised by email and will remain valid for 2 years from the date of issue.
