Basketball NSW is proud to announce a significant step towards a more inclusive and accessible online experience for all its users. With a commitment to ensuring that everyone, regardless of their abilities, can engage with the sport and the organisation, BNSW has launched new accessibility functions in partnership with UserWay for the Basketball NSW website.

The UserWay platform provides a comprehensive suite of accessibility functions that empower users with vision impairment or disabilities to navigate the Basketball NSW website with ease.

These features include but are not limited to:

  • Screen Reader Compatibility: Users with visual impairments can now rely on screen readers to access content, ensuring that important information is not missed.
  • Text Enlargement and Contrast Adjustments: Users with varying visual needs can personalise their experience by adjusting the text size and color contrast to suit their preferences.
  • Dyslexia Friendly Font: Simplifies the reading experience with a new typeface to assist how users interact with content, making it easier on the eyes.
  • Content Highlighting: Important content such as hyperlinks can be highlighted to enhance readability and comprehension for those with cognitive impairments.
  • Page Structure Improvements: The site now boasts improved page structure and clear headings through options to enlgare text and change their alignment on the page, ensuring easier navigation and a more intuitive experience. This includes the option to remove images and animations.

The move to incorporate these accessibility features aligns with Basketball NSW’s dedication to promoting an inclusive and diverse basketball community. It’s about ensuring that every member of the community, regardless of their abilities, can access vital information, enjoy content, and actively participate in the sport they love.

The organisation remains open to suggestions and ideas for further improvements and encourages a collaborative approach in achieving a more accessible and inclusive online presence.

Basketball NSW urges all users to explore these newly integrated features and provide feedback on their experiences via info@bnsw.com.au

Basketball is not just a game; it’s a community, and with these enhancements, Basketball NSW extends its warm welcome to all, ensuring that everyone can be part of the excitement, information, and opportunities that the sport has to offer.
