Basketball New South Wales is pleased to invite you to the first ‘I am a Girl’, conference.
‘I am a Girl’ is a project originally created by Karen Burke from the Hills Hornets Basketball Association, which is aimed at encouraging female athletes to participate in basketball, with the mindset that they truly can do anything; whether this be on or off the court.
Since it’s introduction in 2016, Basketball New South Wales has since adapted the concept in the hope for all our associations to be a part of growing girls participation within our game.
The first conference of 2017 will be hosted at Castle Hill RSL, with a numerous guest speakers focusing on the specific topic of ‘Being a Girl in Sport,’ whether that be from a athlete, referee, coach or facilitator’s perspective. Our key note speaker on the day will be Annie La Fleur, who is all the ambassador for the program. Annie, a NSW Junior and current Hall of Fame inductee is an incredible individual who has achieved and competed at an elite level; whilst also overcoming her own personal adversity. With more guest speakers to be announced, and limited tickets for the conference available; this is the perfect opportunity to help your association and be a part of movement for women’s basketball.
