About the National Championships:
Basketball Australia conducts the Footlocker National Championships throughout the year, and Basketball NSW sends representatives from both Metro and Country to the U16 and U18’s, and combined teams to the U20s. The Ivor Burge Championships are for people with an intellectual disability and the National Junior Wheelchair Championships (NJWC) is the Junior National Championships for Wheelchair Basketball.
National Championships provide young basketballers with the opportunity to play in an elite tournament representing their club, school or state on the national stage. These tournaments have been and remain an important stepping stone in the careers of many Australian basketballers.
Many of Australia’s best players took part in the National Championships before going on to represent Australia.
