The Basketball New South Wales Technical Officials department have travelled far and wide across the New South Wales countryside in 2017, aiming to update our pre-existing bank of referees, statisticians & Scoretable Officials as well as facilitate education for a number of new officials.

The department works closely with our Basketball NSW Coaching sector as well as external coaches within our association, and also our Country Committee for Tournaments & Tours.

Some of the events include

  • East Coast Challenge
  • Australian Country Junior Basketball Cup
  • U12 Country Jamboree
  • Country Development Tour
  • D-League

The team is led by Debbie Keirs, who has a wealth of experience and knowledge across all aspects of the referee and technical official’s sector and has recently returned after being invited to attend the FIBA Referee Instructor Course last month.

Over the duration of 2017 Adam McIntyre, Peter Baxter and Debbie have been at the helm, presenting courses, running action days and attending Basketball  NSW Junior events to help develop our officials.

So far the team has presented 37 courses, numerous workshops and had over  490 individuals attend one of the many courses in which they have brought to our associations. The Basketball NSW Referee Action Days have so far seen  541 officials attend to be updated on the rule changes as well as additional education.

Basketball NSW still have a few remaining courses available for individuals to attend this year, as well as some mini actions days for our Junior League Officials. Please click HERE, to see where the next available course is in your area.
